The annual tradition continues! Join modelers from around the region in this spirited competition, which awards the best in show for traction models and structures of all gauges. New this year, transit models (buses and trackless trolleys) are eligible for awards, and an award for structures will also be given. So bring your best models, and see if they're the "best in show"!


Accepted Model Categories

The 2010 contest accepts traction and transit models (trolleys, streetcars, LRVs, buses, trackless trolleys, and related structures) in the following categories:

Scratch-built Models: Built by the owner from plans, photos, etc., from any materials, to produce a prototype or freelance model.

Kit Models: Built by the owner from a commercial kit as designed, with wheels, trucks, poles, etc. from same or other manufacturer(s) to finish.

Modified Kits: Built by the owner from a commercial kit, modified to a specific prototype or built up from parts of a commercial kit to produce a specific vehicle type. (Commercial models including cardstock, brass, epoxy or urethane unpainted bodies super-detailed, with trucks, poles, etc., finished and painted by the owner shall fall into thsi category.)

Structure Models: Same criteria as for vehicles, except model structure cannot be more than 2 1/2 feet long and must fit on contest table.


Prizes to be Awarded

Accepted models are eligible to win the following categories:

-- Best of Show: Judged Contest - Models

-- Best of Show: Judged Contest - Structure

-- Best of Show - Popular Contest (Ballot vote by Meet attendees)

Accepted models are judged between 1PM and 2PM, with prizes awarded following judging.


Model Contest Rules

All interested parties should bring their model(s) to the Model Contest table between 9AM and 1PM on Saturday, May 22. Entries must be received by 1PM. Judging occurs between 1PM and 2PM, after which prizes are awarded. All entries must be left on the table until at least 3PM, but must be picked up before the show closes at 5PM.
