Rollsign Magazine

One of our most visible activities is the publication of Rollsign—the magazine of New England transit news. Rollsign is published bi-monthly, or six times per year, and circulates to all of our member sand subscribers across the country and the world. Each issue features articles of current and historical interest about New England's public transportation systems, from current events to features on particular stations or lines. The highlight of each issue is the selection of color and black & white photographs, submitted by our contributors and readers. Plus, one issue per year is dedicated to a complete, updated roster of Boston's MBTA system—so detailed, it's even used by the T as a reference!

Subscription Information

All active members in good standing receive Rollsign by mail for free. A separate subscription rate is also available.

Back Issues

Individual issues are available for purchase at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine and at Charles Ro Model Railroad Supply in Malden, MA. We'll also soon be offering back issues in our online store - stay tuned!

Contribute to Rollsign

Members and subscribers are invited to contribute articles, photos, and news items describing the construction, operation, and activities of transportation companies in New England. Information regarding companies outside this area will be judged on its relevance with Rollsign editorial policy and reader interest.

Photo Submission Guidelines

We are always looking for high-quality, interesting photographs for Rollsign. In order for your photographs to be considered for publication, please follow these brief guidelines:

Digital photos are easiest to submit. Please send your unretouched and unedited digital photos as a JPG or TIFF file at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI and at the size that you would like to see them reproduced. A greater resolution always helps, because it will permit us to enlarge the image without loss of quality. On the other hand, as long as the minimum resolution is met, we can shrink the photo to fit in tight quarters if necessary.

If you'd like to submit prints or slides, we are fully able to scan black and white or color prints or slides and edit them precisely for publication.

To submit your digital files, you can e-mail them to us, send them on a CD via US Mail, or hand them to us at our monthly meetings. As physical prints and slides can't be e-mailed, please send them via US Mail or drop them off at a monthly meeting.
