Become a Member

We are a non-profit educational organization, founded in 1959 to publish, exhibit, and preserve materials and information relating to all forms of local and regional mass transit in Boston and New England. The BSRA also seeks to inform the public of past and present trends in mass transit. We achieve these objectives through monthly meetings, a streetcar restoration program, a bi-monthly news magazine, and special publications. Click here to learn more about the BSRA.

The BSRA is proud to have nearly 900 active members from all over Boston, New England, the country and the world. Their membership and support allows us to continue our array of activities, and in return our member receive select benefits. Below you will find an outline of membership types and their associated priveliges.

if you'd like to "come on board" (or you'd like to give a gift membership), please download a membership application and mail it to us. We are working on online membership support for 2012, but unfortunately we cannot yet accept memberships or renewals online.

  • Regular Membership - $25.00 per year
    Regular members in good standing can participate in all activities of the Association, can vote and hold office, receive Rollsign magazine, and get special publications (BSRA Bulletins) for free at time of publication.
  • Intermediate Membership - $20.00 per year
    Intermediate members, who must be under the age of 18, have all the priveliges of regular members except the right to vote or hold office. Upon notifying the Secretary, they automatically become Regular Members when they reach age 18.
  • Associate Membership - $20.00 per year
    Associate members cannot vote or hold office, but they do receive Rollsign for free, and they receive a 40% discount on special publications (BSRA Bulletins) at time of publication.
  • Rollsign Subscription - $16.00 per year
    A direct subscription to our bi-monthly transit news magazine. Subscribers do not receive any member benefits.
